What types of domain names are there?
The domain suffixes differentiate between the various types of organizations on the web. For example, these are the primary generic TLDs (Top Level Domains):

.com - businesses and commercial enterprises
.net - network-related enterprises
.org - charitable or non-profit organizations
.biz - businesses and commercial enterprises (sbcomp.biz)
.info - unrestricted
.us - business registered in the USA

Furthermore, there are country-specific Second Level Domains - (2LDs) like .co.au, .co.uk .co.nz, etc. In some countries the use of the country code is permitted as a top level domain (e.g. civilization.ca in Canada for the Canadian Museum of Civilization).

If you choose to do it yourself to save a little money, it almost always causes problems for us in delegating the domain to the correct place.

We will register the domain names in your name and you will own them, but we will have access as the domain administrator or technical contact so that we can make any required adjustments.

New client with an existing domain name

S & B Computer Servicing requires that all domain names we service are contained within our domain name registrar. This assures that if any changes are needed, we can make them in the fastest time possible to avoid problems or complications.

For example, if a new client already has a domain name with another registrar, (i.e. networksolutions.com) that domain name can and will be transferred to our registrar once the new client agrees.

Domain Name Management

S & B Computer Servicing actively monitors all clients’ domain names. This is one of the most important parts of having a website online. If a domain is let go, or not paid or attended to, that domain can expire and another individual can steal that domain from you within a matter of seconds.

Typically a domain name is purchased on a yearly scale, receiving a recurring bill from the domain name registrar. By putting the control of your domain name in our hands we will assure you that no problems will occur.

Web hosting is the service that makes a web site available to others on the internet. Basically when you rent web space you are renting disk space on someone's computer which is connected full time to the internet. Of course technically it gets more complicated than that, but that's the basic definition.

Email Management

Did you know that having an email address through your website (yourname@yourdomainname.com) is very professional and powerful? Free email services such as yahoo.com and hotmail.com only give you a limited amount of space, basically if you want more, you have to pay more. An email account through your website will enable you to have any name you choose, and send extremely large file attachments of any kind.

Clients that come on-board with our Website Management Services will be asked what name they want to use for their email addresses. The client has no limit on the amount of email accounts they request.

S & B Computer Servicing also provides a mass emailing service to all of our clients. We design the email to be sent in HTML and revise it to the clients liking.
There is a $89.99 fee for this service every time a different email must be designed and sent. If a client requests that the same email design and content be sent again on another day, month, or year, there is no charge for doing this.

The only stipulation of this service is that the client must have a list of email addresses to send. This email address list can be submitted digitally to steve@sbcomp.biz in any format that exists. There will be an additional charge if the email address list is submitted non-digitally.
